Clockwork Princess was fantastic and it has left my emotions all over the place. It’s everything a trilogy finale should be, maybe even more. The Infernal Devices was wrapped up perfectly and I’m happy I got to read such an amazing trilogy. As always, my review is spoiler free!
“”I’m afraid,” said the little girl sitting on the bed. “Grandfather, can you stay with me?” Aloysius Starkweather made an impatient noise in the back of his throat as he drew a chair closer to the bedside and seated himself. The impatient noise was only in earnest. It pleased him that his granddaughter was so trusting of him, that often he was the only one who could calm her. His gruff demeanor had never bothered her, despite her delicate nature. “There’s nothing to be afraid of, Adele,” he said. “You’ll see.””
In this conclusion to The Infernal Devices, Tessa, Will, Jem and their fellow Shadowhunter friends prepare for their final battle against the Magister. As Tessa prepares for her wedding, she’s captured by Mortmain.
I have never been such a mess after reading a book. That’s what I just had to tell you before I dive into my review of this wonderful, amazing, breathtaking book. It took me what feels like forever to read Clockwork Princess from start to finish. I was going through a bit of a reading slump, but in the end, I absolutely loved it.
I’ve already written about the characters in my previous reviews of The Infernal Devices. I feel like I don’t have anything new to add, so I’ll skip that part!
The beginning of the book was great, but I doubt if the first event was really necessary. Specially when looking at the length of this book. Doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it though! It was a fun bit of action at the start and it showed just how dark the entire story was going to be. It was actually a bit disturbing… In a good way!
I don’t really have anything to say about the huge chunk in the middle. My reading slump and reading speed affected my opinion of it and the only parts I do remember clearly are spoilers. The ‘big’ reveal of what Tessa actually is, wasn’t so big. It felt like no big deal at all. At first I was disappointed, I was hoping for lots of drama and emotion, but that was not the case. Now I realise that’s it’s actually really well written. It’s an original take on a big reveal.
This finale was spectaculair. It was action packed, shocking and the plot twists were written perfectly! I love how the prologues in Cassandra’s books always come back later on in the story. It keeps you guessing all though the story and keeps you interested. And then, when the prologue was finally explained, I was like “Ooooohh! That makes sense!” This one was really, really great.
The epilogue of Clockwork Princess left me happy, sad, heartbroken, mad and every other emotion you could possibly feel. It was perfect and I’m so, so glad it was a part of the book! In the end I only have one thing to say about it: when I started reading the epilogue, I was terrified it would spoil the end of The Mortal Instruments. In the end, it didn’t so nothing was ruined, thankfully, hehe! What I love most is how it all came out full circle. It was a really fantastic end an amazing trilogy.
My review of Clockwork Princess, including spoilers and my favourite part of the book can be found on Goodreads.
I have to rate this book 5/5 just because I’m still feeling so many emotions after finishing it! My reading slump made it difficult to read, but it was so worth the struggle!
