I'm all hearteyes for this stunning cover, but the inside is even more beautiful! The Mirror King is an amazing conclusion to the Orphan Queen duology!

The Mirror King by Jodi Meadows is a fantastic book. The cover is absolutely stunning, but the inside is even more beautiful. It’s definitely one of my all time favourites and I’m proud to have it on my bookshelf! The conclusion to the The Orphan Queen duology is everything a finale should be and even more. It’s a must read for everyone, no matter what books you usually like!

“The prince’s blood was on my hands. Screams from the courtyard below pounded through my ears, through my head, but I was blind to all but Tobiah’s motionless form. He was so still. So pale. His skin was like paper. The guards cut away his clothes, revealing the black bolt protruding from his gut. Blood smashed like angry ink, pooling around him.”

Review

Over the past few months I could barely just sit and read for hours, but The Mirror King completely changed that. I read it in only two or three sittings! It’s an amazing story with a great plot, setting and characters. I read The Orphan Queen back in november and I loved it so much, I had to get The Mirror King. So for the second time in my life, I preordered a book!

The first few chapters were really confusing to me. I was going to reread the last part of The Orphan Queen to remember the plot, but I just couldn’t wait to start The Mirror King… It starts right where TOQ ended and (I’m ashamed to admit) I couldn’t remember the end of it! As the story continued I started to remember a whole lot, but the first few chapters didn’t really do it for me. That’s not to blame on Jodi, though. I should’ve just read The Orphan Queen again, hehe!

The plot was good, like amazingly good. I remember having quite a few questions while reading, but somehow I forgot them! Either they’ve all been answered, or the rest of the story was so good they weren’t important enough to remember. All the events in The Mirror King were really unexpected, sometimes even shocking and heartbreaking! The plot twists were amazing and really well written.

I loved almost all the characters in The Mirror King. We learn a whole lot of new things about the characters, which makes me love them even more. I absolutely love Wilhelmina and Tobiah and they are so cute together! Ahhh! I’m not going to spoil everything but first your heart will shatter but then I promise you all the tiny little pieces will be glued back together. And James… Oh my,  he’s probably the love of my life. What a hero! And I even kind of love Wil’s wraith creature!

The end of the story was heartbreaking, wonderful, amazing and probably one of my favourite endings ever. Again, I’m not going to spoil everything, but it made me so happy! The book was filled with emotions and I felt them so much! It doesn’t happen a lot that I feel so much for the characters in a book, but this time my emotions were all over the place. So I’m really glad the The Orphan Queen duology ended to perfectly.

My review of The Mirror King including spoilers and my favourite part of the book can be found on Goodreads.
