Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas

Queen of ShadowsSarah J. Maas has done it again! Celeana’s journey continues in the amazing Queen of Shadows. It’s definitely the best Throne of Glass book so far. There was a lot of character development, plot twists and so much more. I think this is my new favourite book!

“There was a thing waiting in the darkness. It was ancient, and cruel, and paced in the shadows leashing his mind. It was not of his world, and had been brought here to fill him with its primordial cold. Some invisible barrier still separated them, but the wall crumbled a little more every time the thing stalked along its lenght, testing its strength.”

Queen of Shadows

Review

Like I said, Sarah J. Maas has done it again! Queen of Shadows is absolutely amazing. It’s definitely one of my favourite books. It took me a full week for me to finish this wonderful thing, but it was so worth it!

The character development in Queen of Shadows is amazing. Thinking about our beloved characters at the beginning, the middle and the end, I can say there’s been some real development for sure. Not just the development of those characters alone, but there’s development in their relationships as well. Not like there wasn’t any development in the books before, Queen of Shadows just showed it so much better. I’m still amazed by how all the characters who had nothing to do with each other are now connected in some many ways! Also I just have to say I still don’t like Rowan. Sorry.

The plot constantly surprised me. The number of times I audibly gasped or yelled “OMG!” were kind of crazy. If you ever think it’s predictable, guess again! It’s so not. It’s so funny how I thought I knew something, but then it turned out in a completely different way! There were too many inhuman noises coming out of me while reading Queen of Shadows! Just too many! But it was just so good!

I love how Sarah always wraps up her books. They’re cliffhanger-ish, but perfectly wrapped up at the same time! All her Throne of Glass book endings were amazing, but Queen of Shadows was definitely the best. It was so perfect! It was everything I wanted it to be and so much more and I could babble about it for hours! I can’t wait for Empire of Storms!

My review of Queen of Shadows including spoilers and my favourite part of the book can be found on Goodreads.

How am I just now finding your blog?!? LOL I could have sworn that I looked at it the other day while we were talking about Mara Dyer… But anyway, why don’t you like Rowan? I’m just curious because there has been a lot of conversation about Rowaelin lately. Hope all is well!

    • Hahaha! I don’t really know why I dislike Rowan, actually… I guess I liked him in Heir of Fire but then things happened and I like Chaol better so I wasn’t really happy about him and Aelin getting together… Hehe 😅

Haha I totally get that 🙂 I think that Chaol was great for Celeana but he had a hard time accepting her for who she was completely. And I think that SJM will give him the happy ending that he deserves, or at least she better because that poor babe has been through way to much!

        • I really cannot wait to see what’s in store for Chaol! And hopefully I’ll like Rowan a little better after Empire of Storms, hehe!
