I’m about to tell you the craziest thing, and I’m super excited about it; Today is my first day interning at a Dutch publisher! As you might know, I schedule all my post, so when this is published I’ll be at work! I’m writing this a few days ahead and it’s crazy to think about. Real life is about to begin again! But, before I go back to internship and college, I had the past full month off and I spend my time working on the blog!
Honestly, everything I’ve done for the blog in the past month is kind of foggy. Except for aaaaaallll the stuff I did yesterday. I revamped my layout a bit
and yelled YAAASSSS! when I got this CSS code right, it was awesome. Then I continued by tackling my Review Archive. It went from uncontrollable mess to beautiful alphabetically sorted by book title! I added social media links to my About page and after finishing this post I’ll add some things to my Review Policy so if I manage to do that, it should be online now. I also moved some widgets around and deleted some empty/useless menu buttons. I’m 99% finished writing my posts for August and I’m hoping to start writing September posts soon! I’ve been getting many new ideas for future posts so I’m taking more notes than I’m actually writing.
I’ve also started making bookish videos! My first one went up a few days ago, there will be a new one tomorrow and I’ve filmed another one! I’m not sure if that last one will actually be shared, but I’ll see once I’ve edited it, haha! I’ve also started a list with video ideas and tags so I’m preeeeetty excited about that!
One last thing I’m really excited about is that I’ve become a bit more flexible with my schedule! Usually, I plan/write a month ahead and stick to that like it’s my religion, but over the past month I’ve actually made quite a few changes! I’ve swapped two written posts with videos, I’ve published another fun post I was just too excited about (30 Bookish Facts!) and I’ve switched around another few posts
because I messed up. When I added the blog to my college portfolio, I mentioned this was one of my learning goals so I’m really happy about it!
A Personal Update
I was really glad to go to Germany for a few days in the past month because I really needed a break from life. I was far enough ahead with writing for the blog that I could take a good break, and no matter how much I love blogging, I was really happy about it. I had an amazing time in Germany with my mom, grandparents and family friends. I read the first two books in the Mara Dyer trilogy, listened to Wink, Poppy, Midnight and it was wonderful.
I need to move out for internship, which I’m really excited about! But it has caused a lot of stress and anxiety and it was absolutely terrible. The only normal things in my life this past month were books and blogging. I was constantly checking housing websites and Facebook groups and sending messages, and it just didn’t work out! I’ve been in a reading/blogging/everything slump as well, and it’s quite annoying! I just didn’t want to do anything! Luckily, most is now back to normal, hehe!
Overall, when it comes to blogging everything was really happy and positive! Personal life not so much… But today’s a new start and I’m excited and I can’t wait for the future!
July/August Book Haul
So I was actually about to say that I didn’t get any new books this month (since I got so many last month and I don’t remember visiting a book shop between now and my last Behind the Books. But then I realised I got some money from my grandparents and decided to get some more books: A Court of Thorns & Roses and A Court of Mist & Fury by Sarah J. Maas! I read them both already and they’re fan-freaking-tastic! ACOMAF gave me the worst book hangover ever!
I also preordered some of my most anticipated released for the rest of the year: Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas, Frost Like Night by Sara Raasch and A Million Worlds With You by Claudia Gray! I’m so excited about reading these! I’m getting them about 10/12 days after their actual releases but I don’t mind, I’m too excited to really care about it, hehe!
Then a few days ago I got a discount code for Book Depository and I got some money on my PayPal from an eBay order that went wrong, so I ordered Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater! And then the next day I couldn’t resist ordering This Savage Song by Victoria/V.E. Schwab!
I’m writing this on Sunday (yesterday if you read this on the day it’s published) and I’m currently 140 pages away from finishing The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater! I hope to finish it tonight and start something new tomorrow, probably Under The Never Sky by Veronica Rossi because she’s coming to YALfestNL next year and I haven’t read anything of her. I’m also getting a new copy of Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch, so I might try to read both, hehe! When this is published, I honestly have no idea what I’m reading,
What have you been up to this past month?
