May ’17 Wrap Up

Woah, it’s the last day of May! (Hey, that rimes!) I cannot believe the month has flown by so fast. I had a lot of free time, so obviously I read quite a lot! I read three massive Shadowhunter books (include the new Lord of Shadows!) and of course I read Sarah J. Maas’ ACOWAR! Read more about the books I read this May down below!

If you’d like to know what I wanted to read this month, check out my May TBR!

A Court of Wings & Ruin by Sarah J. Maas

Oh. My. Goodness. The ACOTAR trilogy has come to an end! I started reading this as an eBook because my hardback order was delayed, but luckily I could finish reading the physical copy! I’m still so excited about this one, but also really sad that it’s finished now!

Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy by Cassandra Clare

I always find some reason to buy new books. My reason to buy this one: the release of Lord of Shadows and handing in my exams! I felt like I deserved it, hehe! The main reason I got this one (and not some other random book) is because I heard lots of people say you should read TFTSA before Lady Midnight, so that’s exactly what I did! Let me tell you something: Lady Midnight just gets so much better with the background stories in FTFSA!

Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare (Reread & Audiobook)

I felt so incredibly upset when I was too ill to actually pick up a book and read. It drove me nearly mad! I renewed my Storytel subscription and thank god, Lady Midnight was on there! I absolutely loved it, the narrator was great and it was so great to have read TFTSA before this one, I knew much more of the background story!

Lady Midnight Review

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

I ordered this one from Book Depository when I was watching the show of Netflix. I was so impressed by the show, and conflicted as well. I’m still not quite sure what to think of it. I was seriously underwhelmed by the book. Where I think the Netflix series left such a big impression on me, the book absolutely didn’t. I’m so underwhelmed by the book. The more I think about it, the angrier I get.

Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare

EEEKK!!! I got Lord of Shadows ELEVEN DAYS early! Unfortunately, I was still in the middle of my Shadowhunters reread/LoS preparation, so I could start it right away. I just cannot believe how incredible it was! Oh my goodness, I cannot wait for the release of Queen of Air & Darkness!!! In 2019… *cries*

Spindle Fire by Lexa Hillyer (Audiobook)

This one was super unexpected! One of my goals this year is to read as many books from my TBR as possible, since I was super overwhelmed by it last year. I wanted to get as much out of my Storytel subscription as possible, so I started looking for more things to listen to. I found Spindle Fire and I was so excited! I wrote a review on Goodreads, so be sure to check it out!

The House of Stone by Amy Ewing (Dutch)

The Dutch publisher of The Jewel has released Raven’s novella as an actual book! It’s called ‘Opgesloten‘ (roughly translated: ‘imprisoned’ or ‘locked up’) and although I couldn’t remember much details from The Jewel, this was a really nice read.

Our Dark Duet by V.E. Schwab

Eekkk! If you follow me on Twitter or read like every post I published, you probably know I found Our Dark Duet in Waterstones in Amsterdam +2 weeks early so I took it home with me! Since I have so much free time I was able to read it right away. Guys. IT’S INCREDIBLE! You can look forward to my review sometime near the official release!

Avenged by Amy Tintera (Audiobook)

Three audiobooks in one month is probably my new record! I listened to this one for the same reason I listened to Spindle Fire; I wanted to make the most of my Storytel subscription and I wanted to listen to something from my TBR! I read Ruined (the first book in the trilogy) a few months ago and decided to continue with Avenged in audiobook form!

Current Reads

I’m not in the middle of anything at the moment, but I’m going to start reading The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern today! It has been on my TBR for about a year and I’m SO EXCITED I can finally start reading it!

What’s your favourite book you read this month? Were there any anticipated releases you could finally read?
