Waiting on Wednesday: All The Crooked Saints by Maggie Stiefvater

Although I’m still not quite recovered from finishing The Raven Cycle (it’s been like a year now!) I’m very excited about Maggie Stiefvater’s new book All The Crooked Saints. The story takes place in the sixties and follows a family that can perform strange miracles. It sounds super intriguing and I already can’t wait to read it! In today’s post I’m talking about five more reasons why I’m excited for this book.

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking The Spine.

Maggie Stiefvater

One of the main reasons I’m so highly anticipating this book is because it’s written by Maggie Stiefvater! Honestly, I don’t think this would’ve interested me at all if it wasn’t for her! I haven’t read anything other than her Raven Cycle series, but her writing is so incredible. I’m really excited to read something new of hers!

Miracles

Apparently this book is about a family that can perform miracles. Colour me intrigued! I read a bit of the excerpt on Mashable and it already seemed like such a wonderful concept!

“Dubious Life Advice”

In this same Mashable article, Maggie talks about her inspiration for this book, which apparently was her readers asking for life advice. I’m super curious as to how she’s incorporated that into this story! I mean, “Dubious Lie Advice”? Sounds great!

Family

I absolutely loved the Raven Cycle for the family-vibe is has. Blue and her family, Gansey and his sister, and then Blue and the boys. They might not all be a blood-related family, but I loved nonetheless. And now this is a story about three cousins? I especially like cousins for some reason, so, yay! Could this book get any better?!

1960’s

To answer my last question: Yes, it can! This book is set in the sixties and although I don’t have a particular interest in this decade, I sort of do at the same time! I’m really interested to read about new settings and times in history. I don’t think I’ve ever read anything that’s set in this decade, so it should be fun!

About All The Crooked Saints

From bestselling author Maggie Stiefvater, a gripping tale of darkness, miracles, and family.

Here is a thing everyone wants:
A miracle.

Here is a thing everyone fears:
What it takes to get one.

Any visitor to Bicho Raro, Colorado is likely to find a landscape of dark saints, forbidden love, scientific dreams, miracle-mad owls, estranged affections, one or two orphans, and a sky full of watchful desert stars.

At the heart of this place you will find the Soria family, who all have the ability to perform unusual miracles. And at the heart of this family are three cousins longing to change its future: Beatriz, the girl without feelings, who wants only to be free to examine her thoughts; Daniel, the Saint of Bicho Raro, who performs miracles for everyone but himself; and Joaquin, who spends his nights running a renegade radio station under the name Diablo Diablo.

They are all looking for a miracle. But the miracles of Bicho Raro are never quite what you expect.

Maggie Stiefvater has been called “a master storyteller” by USA Today and “wildly imaginative” by Entertainment Weekly. Now, with All the Crooked Saints, she gives us the extraordinary story of an extraordinary family, a masterful tale of love, fear, darkness, and redemption.
