A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab

Did a Conjuring of Light - the final instalment in the Shades of Magic series - live up to my expectations? Read it in my spoiler free review!

Oh my goodness, you guys! It’s the end! You probably know what end I mean, but just in case you don’t: A Conjuring of Light is the final instalment of V.E. Schwab’s Shades of Magic series. I’m so sad it has come to and end. I read this trilogy in only a matter of days because I fell headfirst into this incredible world and never wanted to leave. It has become one of my all time favourite series and I’m so glad I get to share my excitement with you in my spoiler free review.

“In myths, the hero survives. The evil is vanquished. The world is set right. Sometimes there are celebrations, and sometimes there are funerals. The dead are buried. The living move on. Nothing changes. Everything changes. This is a myth. This is not a myth.”

My Review

Contrary to the previous books, A Conjuring of Light starts right in the middle of the action. I’m still amazed by the plot (that goes on for 666 pages! Hehehe…) and Victoria’s ability to fill it to the brim with events and happenings. I have to admit, I didn’t cry much. I blame my iPad/eBook for that (curse not reading from actual paper! It really makes a difference!) There were intense moments, happy and sad moments. Incredible, badass, lovely moments. It was a rollercoaster worth of emotions and feelings and it’s just absolutely incredible.

If the characters hadn’t grown on my before this final instalment of the Shades of Magic series, they certainly did in A Conjuring of Light. There’s so much character development and the relationships grow more special by the page. We even got to read from new perspectives, which I loved just as much as reading for our beloved character’s points of view. Obviously, it all had to lead up to something and now I’m… heartbroken. Oh my goodness, I’m so sad.

I talked about the incredible beginning of the series in my review of A Darker Shade of Magic, but the end of A Conjuring of Light was just as incredible, if not even better. Series finales are always scary. Will they live up to your expectations? Is your fave going to die?! Honesty, when I really love a series, the end is the most intense and terrifying part for me. What’ll happen to my favourites? Is it going to end okay? Will it be open ended? (everything’s kind of an open end but you know there’s a line). I’m incredibly happy with the end of the Shades of Magic series. So, so, SO incredibly happy. Yes, it gave me a whole lot of FEELS and if I could change even the tiniest bit, I don’t think I’d actually do it. It’s perfect the way it is. It’s honestly one of my favourite series endings ever. And don’t mistake that as me being happy it ended, because oh my god I need more!!!

My Rating
♡♡♡♡♡

There’s no rating I could give this book to show you guys how much I love this book and this incredible series. I’m so incredibly happy about the Threads of Power trilogy set in this world! I don’t own physical copies of these books yet, but I hope to get them ASAP so I can read them again! And again, and again…
