Last year, before the release of Frost Light Night, I joined Sara Raasch’s Join The Blizzard contest. Sara was giving away an ARC a place on her War Council (a group who helped her reveal FLN news!) All you had to do was choose a kingdom and “prepare it for war” by doing tasks from a Rafflecopter giveaway. Of course I choose for the Autumn Kingdom! I did quite a few things, including a Pinterest board. It sat unused in my account for over a year, so I decided to finally bring it back to life.
I called the board “Oktuber | Snow Like Ashes” because Oktuber is the capital city of the Autumn Kingdom and obviously it was inspired by Snow Like Ashes!
It used to be called ‘Kingdom of Autumn’ but that was pretty boring, hehe. It’s definitely one of my all time favourite board because it looks so pretty! (I mean, just have a quick look at that collage! And that’s not even half of it yet!)
This board was 100% made by just looking at images. I’m often pinning things because of their usefulness (like recipes and helpful articles), but for this one I just wanted it to be gloriously Autumn-ish. I hadn’t even looked at the attached links! Until now… So, without further ado, here’s some fun stuff I found on the board.
Hooooly moly, this sure is something I have to try soon! These swirls look absolutely gorgeous (see collage, bottom right photo!) and it sounds so delicious! Cinnamon rolls are one my favourite things in the world and this recipe looks so good! It obviously has apples, sultanas and cinnamon, but also apricot, lemon and orange! Yummm!
Whenever I bake, it’s usually cookies. They’re simple and don’t need a lot of ingredients, so they’re usually easy peasy! The middle image in my collage is a beautiful pie with Autumn leaves! This pin brought me to a page on FeedFeed with more stunning pies. I couldn’t find the specific pie, but that’s okay, there’s plenty of others to choose from.
This guide is soooooo much fun! I love how there’s lots of outdoor activities in this one, as I’m usually stuck inside with a good book or a movie. I wouldn’t think of going out as it’s usually rainy and cold! The start of Autumn would actually be perfect for long walks, bike rides, picknicks and other outdoorsy stuff. (Plus, the photos used in this article are beautiful!)
Before today, I had no clue what mulled wine was. I must’ve read about it books but just brushed it off as some sort of wine or alcoholic drink, but it’s much more than that! Basically it’s wine (served hot or warm) made with mulling spices like cinnamon, orange, lemon, etc. It’s often served around Christmas
in the Netherlands and Germany we call this Gluhwijn/wein, by the way! and at Christmas markets. But why not try some recipes during Autumn to serve your favourite/best one at Christmas? 😉
I absolutely love hot chocolate. I have this photo from my personal Instagram of a hot cocoa that I made back in January and although it didn’t have marshmallows, it was reeaally yummy! Anyway, one of the pins on this board lead to this really cute recipe that you actually have to put in a jar. It’s like an edible gift!
Yes, that could also be a gift to yourself, hehe! To be honest, the recipe of the article isn’t all that special to me, it’s alllll about the video at the bottom! The video has five different recipes that are super interesting. Cocoa with candy cane/peppermint, white chocolate with lavender, white chocolate with cake mix?! Yes, some are very peculiar, but isn’t that just the best?!
I’ve never had a Starbucks Pumpin Spice Latte so it’s a good thing I’m a Cinnamon Roll Frappuccino!
I’m a real cinnamon roll! Hahaha! Anyway, I love quizzes and this one is all about what Autumn drink you would be if you were, well, a drink.
