Behind the Books: December ’17

The past month has been absolutely crazy in both the worst and best way possible! I talk all about it in my monthly Behind the Books post.

The first draft of this post was an absolute mess. It was to be expected, as I had an absolute mess of a month. In a good way, though. Or, in the best way, actually! The last two weeks of November were extremely difficult, but things really turned around for me in December. Honestly, I just cannot wait to share it all with you guys, so let’s dive straight into my monthly personal update.

The Blog

So, the first half of November wasn’t really that great. I had scheduled so many fun posts that I either un-scheduled because I wasn’t feeling good about them, or I didn’t even schedule/publish stuff at all. I had so much stress and anxiety over so many things in my life, like my search for a job and paying bills on time… It really got me down and I decided blogging wasn’t a priority. Then we had the whole Goodreads and Netgalley thing and I was just… done. Luckily, it all lead to some really great things as well. Like the International Book Bloggers group chat! It feels so incredible to chat with people all over the world. I also started @IntlYABloggers on Twitter to promote and support international bloggers!

December started out crazy. I was excited about blogging again and I managed to do so much work in so little time! I haven’t been this productive in a long time and it’s a really wonderful feeling. I’m really happy about my schedule, my photos and my content and I’m currently working on my Jan/Feb schedule, which is so much fun! The new year feels like a new start and I cannot wait to see what the new year will bring.

I’ve got quite a few things “planned” for 2018! I’m working on a project that’s definitely going to happen, and I have lots of ideas for things I want to do. Of course, I’ll also have to adjust to my new work schedule, because I can’t blog all day, every day anymore, but more on that in a bit!

A Personal Update

I finally found a job! After all the stress and worry and anxiety, I finally found a job and I’m so, so happy! I’ll be working in retail, which always scared me quite a lot, but I’m so happy. I start on Monday and I’m actually really excited! I’m going to have to adjust to this, of course, and it’s right before Christmas so it’s going to be quite crazy, but that’s the best way to learn, right? I’ve scheduled some fun content, so I don’t plan on going on an hiatus or anything. Plus, I’m free during Christmas so I’ll definitely have some time to blog (although I will also be resting, as I’m sure I’ll be exhausted… hehe!) The last few weeks of November weren’t the best, as you know, but I’m happy to leave it behind me.

I have three favourite songs at the moment: Let Me Go by Hailee Steinfeld, It Ain’t Me by Selena Gomez and New Year’s Day by Pentatonix. They’re on repeat like aallll the time and they’re so much fun! I thought I’d be listening to Christmas music a lot but… I’m not! Other than that, I’m playing Animal Crossing sort of obsessively, hehe! Of course, I’m playing the new mobile game Pocket Camp, but I also have my town in New Leaf to think about! I actually bought a new Fire Emblem game this month (Shadows of Valentia) and it’s a bit disappointing after playing another FE game…

November/December Book Haul

I hauled exactly three books over the past month. I mentioned Before She Ignites by Jodi Meadows in my November Behind the Books, but I’m mentioning it again because I now actually own it! Of course, I also finally got my Fairyloot box with The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli and an ARC of Furyborn by Claire Legrand. They’re all such epic books!

Currently Reading

I’m 6 books away from finishing my Goodreads reading challenge and it’s stressing me out! I’m not exactly in a reading slump, but my pace has suddenly slowed so much and I’m quite anxious about reaching my goal of a 100 books. It’s not a bad kind of stress, it’s more of a “Oh my goodness, I really want to make it!!!!” kind of stress. Anyway, I’m reading my ARC of Furyborn by Claire Legrand (which I’m loving!), and I started listening to The Glass Spare by Lauren DeStefano the day before yesterday and it’s pretty great!

What have you been up to this past month? Are you excited for Christmas?
