December ’17 Wrap Up

We’re less than an hour away from 2018, so I’m really cutting it close with my wrap up, but I just finished my 100th and final book of the year and I just had to include it in today’s wrap up! Can you even believe it’s the last one of the year? Because I certainly can’t! I doesn’t feel as if we’re about to go into 2018… I’ve (re)read a lot of wonderful books this month and it was a real challenge to finish my Goodreads Challenge, but I managed to finish it! On New Year’s Eve, no less! Anyway, here’s what I read in December.

Here’s what was on my December TBR!

An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson

This was definitely one of my most anticipated releases of 2017 and I was so sad I couldn’t get a copy of the book! I got myself a trial at Audiobooks.com and found An Enchantment of Ravens on it, so obviously I started listening right away! The audiobook format wasn’t really working for me, but I’ll be reading it again next month because I got a copy for Christmas!

An Enchantment of Ravens Review on Goodreads

The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli

This was in the November Fairyloot box and even though it took me nearly half the book to really get into it, I really ended up loving it! It’s all about dragons and ancient stories and badass ladies and the Fairyloot exclusive cover looks so pretty!

The Last Namsara Review

Furyborn by Claire Legrand

There was an ARC of Furyborn in the November Fairyloot box and I honestly think I loved this one more than I loved The Last Namsara. It’s such an incredible, complex story about two incredible ladies and I just wish it was May 2018 so everyone could just read it already!

The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert

I found an ARC on Netgalley UK and I was honestly so incredibly surprised when I was approved for the title! I read it in a matter of days and I’m so happy. The Hazel Wood is such an incredible book with a relatable main character and an epic fantasy world! I’m sure fantasy-lovers will love this when it comes out at the end of January!

Harry Potter & the Philosopher’s Stone Illustrated Edition by J.K Rowling & Jim Kay

I’ve been wanting the illustrated Harry Potter edition for literally ages, and I finally got one for Christmas! I also managed to finish it in only two days because 1) I was stressing over my Goodreads goal and 2) it was the perfect Christmas read! Oh, and 3) I loved it so freaking much I just couldn’t put it down.

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

I sort of “ran out” of unread books on my shelf, but I still had to reach my goal of 100 books! I decided to pick up City of Bones. I loved this book when I read it first in January or February of 2016 (which feels like forever ago!) I kind of rushed through all the Shadowhunter books since then and with the movie and the (Netflix) show, details got blurry! What was in the book, and what wasn’t? I’ve been wanting to reread it ever since I got the movie tie-in hardback last year, and I’m so glad I finally did!

City of Bones Review (2016)

The Glass Spare by Lauren DeStefano

I listened to the audiobook of The Glass Spare since I got a second book for free on Audiobooks.com and since I wanted to listen to something new/recent, I went for this one. I’m honestly not sure what to think of the book, and that’s why I’ve been putting off my review for a little bit! The whole concept of this princess being able to turn living things into gemstones sounds great, but it just didn’t really work out.

Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling

Book number one hundred! AHH!! I got some money for Christmas and decided to get a book with it after my morning shift at work. I only had (less than) three days to finish my 100th book, so I wanted something short and fluffy, but I really couldn’t find anything of interest at my local bookshop, so I decided to really give myself a challenge: to finish this in about three days, while also having some long shifts at work. It was a bit stressful, but I feel so proud about finishing it on New Year’s Eve!

Current Reads

I’m seriously so happy to say that I’m not currently reading anything! I’m starting a new book tomorrow, but I’m so happy to really start fresh in the new year! I was scared I’d be left with a half-read book and that I wouldn’t know what challenge to count in towards, but I’m glad I don’t have that “problem” now, hehe!

What have you read in this last month of 2017? Did you manage to finish your Reading Challenge(s)?

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Yay, you’ve read great books this month. I am really excited for Hazel Wood, it sounds amazing 🙂 I’ve read 10 books in December and I read 95 books in total, so I am quite happy with that! I just started the new year by reading the Raven Boys and Iove it so far <3

    • Happy new year to you as well! 🖤
It’s really wonderful that you’ve read so many books! I’m sure you’ll LOVE The Hazel Wood and I’m super glad you’re enjoying The Raven Boys, it’s one of my favourite books and I’ll be rereading it soon! ☺️

  • Happy New Year! Congrats on completing your challenge. 100 Books is amazing. 😀
I already completed my challenge before the half year was up but I kept mine very low. Doing it again this year.

    • Happy new year to you too! I completed my first goal (50) before summer and then quickly finished my second goal (75) as well, so I decided to REALLY make it a challenge in the end with 100, it’s still crazy to think about, hahah!

  • OMG, all the books you read are amazing!!! Congrats again on finishing your 100th book on time for the end of 2017!!! I can’t wait to read Furyborn, An Enchantment of Ravens, and The Hazel Wood. Me and a couple of bloggers and booktubers are organizing a read-a-thon for rereads next year, so for that I would really love to re-read the Sorcerer’s Stone with the illustrations!

    • Thank you so much! I’m so happy with all the books I read in December because they were just so good! I actually tried to organise a re-read-a-thon last November but then realised everyone was doing NaNoWriMo and I put it off… hahahah!
