January ’18 TBR

Aahhh, it’s the first TBR of 2018! I also think it’s my very first January TBR ever, as I was on an hiatus this time last year. My goal is to read 75 books in 2018, and I want to start the year with a bang! There’s much more to my TBR pile than just the books in the photo, because I have quite a few eBooks lined up for this month. Half of my TBR are rereads, and I’m actually quite excited about that! Anyway, here’s what I’ll be reading in January.

Here’s what I read in December

An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson

As you could read in yesterday’s Wrap Up, I’ve listened to this audiobook at the beginning of December. Unfortunately, it wasn’t really my thing. I loved the story, but the narration annoyed me so much! I got a hardback copy for Christmas and now it’ll be the first book I’ll be reading in 2018.

Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones

Argh, this has been on my TBR for AGES! One of my goals for this month is to finally read and review it. It seems like the perfect wintery book and I’ve been wanting to read this for a long time, but my friend told me she didn’t like it and it’s kind of hidden in my iBooks app (instead of Kindle) so I either forget or I’m not in the mood. I’m really getting to it this month! (As in, it’ll be my second book!)

Truthwitch by Susan Dennard

I got the eBook of Truthwitch for free when I signed up for the Tor Teen email newsletter and I cannot wait to read it! I’ve seen it around in my favourite bookshop, but for some reason it never really grabbed my attention. It sounds like an interesting book, though, and I can’t wait to pick it up.

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

I want to reread the entire Raven Cycle this year, so I gotta start at the beginning, right? It took quite a bit of effort reading this for the first time, but now I know so much about this series, I feel like it’ll be less difficult! I’m also reading a lot of books this month so I can review them, and The Raven Boys is not one of those, as I’ve already reviewed it. It’ll be a nice break from reviewing!

Children of Blood & Bone by Tomi Adeyemi

I read a chapter sampler a few months ago and I loved it! I think the publisher has changed something on Netgalley and somehow I ended up with the full book on my Kindle app! Of course I’ll be reading and reviewing it! Tomi is coming to YALFest in the Netherlands this year and I’m not sure if I’ll go yet, but if I do, it’ll definitely be to meet her!

The Selection by Kiera Cass

According to Goodreads, I’ve read The Selection twice. But I think it should actually be like three or four times? Like, I REALLY love this book. It’s a nice and simple read and I honestly consider it a YA classic. Anyway, just like the Raven Cycle, I want to reread the entire series (or at least the trilogy). I wanted to wait until I finally had all the English hardcovers on my shelf, but it’s taking too long and I’ve decided to reread them all in Dutch (as I own the entire series because my mom read them last year – Thanks, mom!) It’ll also be nice to read something in Dutch again, as it’s been a while now, I think!

Lots of these are backlist titles and I’m so excited, because I’m participating in Beat The Backlist! I’m just really excited about the books I’ll be rereading. Since I love all these books, I’m sure it’ll be a great start of the year!

What’s on your first TBR of 2018?

Nice TBR. I am really curious about An Enchanment of Ravens and Children of Blood and Bone. I haven’t thought about my TBR to be honest, haha. I am currently reading The Raven Boys and All The Crooked Saint. After that I really want to read Uprooted and A Gathering of Shadows, but I also have to read some books for school.

    • Thank you! I’m really excited to read all of them (again – since most are rereads, haha!) I really hope you’ll love the Raven Boys, I feel like Maggie Stiefvater books that people either love or hate them… I really think you’ll love Uprooted and A Gathering of Shadows! They’re two of my favourite books and just talking about them makes me want to read them again, ahah! Good luck reading the books for school! I never really like “forced” reading, but I hope you’ll enjoy them!
