I stopped making new year’s resolutions years ago. Instead, I started working towards goals. You might think it’s the same, but it’s honestly not. Resolutions are too vague for me. It’s like “Read more books!” versus “I’m going to read 75 books”, you know what I mean? Anyway, setting goals this year was a bit difficult. Usually I have them all figured out by the end of December, but even yesterday I was still thinking about them! Anyway, I’ve set some blog and bookish goals for myself, and I’d love to share them with you. (So you can kick my put if I start slacking… ha!)
Keep Blogging When I go Back to College
Even though I can’t really do anything about it until the last few months of the year, this one is most important to me. I’ll be applying for college at the end of the month and I’m really hoping to get in! And when I do, I want to keep blogging. In 2016/2017, I went on a nine month hiatus because of college and internship and looking back, I really hated it! I really missed having a creative outlet and doing something for myself, opposed to only working on graduating. I’m prone to not do anything besides college. Like, the semester starts and I drop everything I love because I need to do things “perfectly” in college. I’m so done with that!
Work With Bloggers, Authors & Brands
Isn’t it every bloggers dream to work with other people? I really want to use my blog as a platform to promote the things and people that I love. I don’t just do Fairyloot unboxings to show off what I got or what’s in the box, but to promote this amazing subscription box because I genuinely love it. I talk about the books I love, because I want to you to read them and love them just as I do. I haven’t worked with a lot of people so far, but I’m really hoping that’ll change in 2018.
Participate in Blog Tours
This one might be a little bit like the one mentioned above, but it feels like a separate thing to me. The few biog tour organisers I follow often don’t organise tours that “fit” with my blog and others won’t even get in touch when I contact them, probably because I’m still too small… And then I find out about amazing blog tours when they’ve already started! Ah, it’s like my #1 frustration. I haven’t participated in a blog tour yet, but I really want to be part of one in the future!
Make & Sell my Bookmarks
You may have seen some pictures of my custom made bookmark on Twitter or Instagram. I got this idea last summer and when I tried to make it, it worked out quite well! I’ve been brainstorming for themes and books and other fun little details for a shop and I really want to start a shop this year! I feel like it’ll be “just another bookmark shop” but I haven’t seen any like mine around yet and I think it could work out! It’s a really scary thing because I need more than a MacBook and a Camera to make this work, but I got the first few things ready so as soon as I get some money, I’ll be making more bookmarks!
Make my International Bookworms Meme a Success!
Publishing the page with all the info about the International Bookworms meme was one of the scariest thing I’ve done in a while – and I’ve done a lot of scary things over the past few months. I was terrified no one would care! I’ve heard such good things already, though, I cannot wait to publish the first post and linkup! I really want to keep doing this all year and it would be so cool to have a 100 people participate!
Do More With Instagram
I’ve been very inactive on Bookstagram over the past month or so, but I’m ready to go for it in 2018! I want to post at least one photo every day, use the Stories feature more and like/comment on other people’s photos more! I also really hope to host a challenge sometime and it would be awesome if I could reach 500 followers!
Go to a Bookish Event (and Blog About it!)
I’ve attended quite a few bookish events during my internship, but I never blogged about them! I feel like I’ve wasted so many opportunities to write fun posts about the events I went to. I’m still not sure whether or not I’ll be going to YALFest this year, but if I do I’m definitely writing about it! Most events are too far away for me to actually go to them, but I’m hoping there will be lots of fun events to go to this year and blog about!
Gain More Followers
I honestly hate that I care so muh about numbers and I really hate comparing myself to others, but it happens, I guess. I’ve recently gotten 500 followers on Twitter (Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!) and it feels like I’ve done something impossible! I would be amazing to get more, though, so my goal for 2018 is 750. I originally get my goal at 1K, but that felt way too ambitious, hahah! I honestly wish it didn’t matter, but it does. I mean, to get some popular ARCs you need great stats and lots of following… Anyway, I haven’t only thought about my follower count for Twitter and Instagram, I’m hoping to reach a 100 on Bloglovin’ as well.
I hosted my first giveaway in May of last year when I had my first blogiversary and it was so much fun! It made me so happy to make someone else happy by giving them a book, if that makes sense! I’d hoped to do another giveaway for my birthday and Christmas last year, but I didn’t have the funds to do so. I think I might do t least one giveaway this year!
Do you have any bookish or blog goals for 2018? Let’s work on them together!
