Waiting on Wednesday: Winter Glass by Lexa Hillyer

I love doing Waiting on Wednesday posts because really get to dive into a future release and I just get so incredibly excited about the books I pick for these posts! This week, I dove into the world of Spindle Fire and its sequel Winter Glass by Lexa Hillyer. Here’s a bunch of reasons why I can’t wait for this book!

Waiting on Wednesday is Hosted by Breaking The Spine.

It’s the Sequel to Spindle Fire

I listened to the audiobook of Spindle Fire last year and I absolutely loved it. I was planning to get a hardback copy of the book, but I haven’t done so yet! Winter Glass gives me the perfect excuse to finally buy it. And reread it… As 99% of the details are super foggy and I might not have one clue about what’s about to go down in the sequel. Also, aren’t these books just absolutely gorgeous!?! Like, they will look fantastic on my shelves, hehe!

New Fairytale Inspirations

The synopsis of Winter Glass mentions a glass slipper and according to this article on EW.com, the book is actually inspired by Cinderella. I really love this part of the interview: “I wanted the slipper to not be about being a perfect fit for a prince, but more like, ‘What does it mean to fit the shoe?’ It’s really a quest for identity.” It’s such an original take on Cinderella and since I loved the Sleeping Beauty elements in Spindle Fire, I’m sure I’m going to love this as well.

The First Chapter

I don’t usually read online excepts or first chapters because they’re usually long and I’ll be reading them again anyway once I finally pick up the book. When I found Winter Glass‘ first chapter on Lexa Hillyer’s website, I decided to read it anyway. It wasn’t too long and I was just so curious to see what would happen! It really left me wanting more and I’m sure it’s the start of a great book.

Three Things You Should Know

I already linked to this EW.com article before, but I’ll be doing it again. It just makes me so incredibly excited about this book. There’s the new Cinderella element, it’s a tale of two queens and there will be different kinds of love stories and those three things just make me love the book without even having read it.

It’s the end of the Duology

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end… That goes for the Spindle Fire duology as well! I love duolgies because it’s still “bigger” than just one book, but we don’t have to wait ages for the next book in the series, either! I really hope we’ll get a beautiful, happy ending.

About Winter Glass

A curse comes undone. A kingdom shatters. But some bonds can’t be broken.

Princess Aurora, torn from the dream world, plots to assassinate the faerie queen Malfleur, only to confront temptations she never expected. Isabelle, meanwhile, opens her heart to Prince William as they attempt to unite their kingdoms and wage war against Malfleur’s army. But when the appearance of an unbreakable glass slipper prompts Isabelle to discover more about her lineage, her true identity begins to take shape and her legacy becomes as clear as ice.

Devoted half-sisters Isabelle and Aurora will grapple with their understanding of love and loyalty as they face a threat even greater than that of the evil queen—the threat of losing each other forever.
