Behind the Books: April ’18

Thank goodness for the ability to schedule posts in advance, because I’m currently in Germany and I just couldn’t wait to share this month’s Behind the Books! March and April have been the best in terms of blogging. Besides blogging, life was pretty crazy as well. I mean, I visited like two colleges in one month and then I signed up for one and…. *breathes* Oh, and I NEED to tell you about my obsession with The Greatest Showman because I am OBSESSED. (In case you hadn’t noticed.) Anyway, I hope you’ll enjoy today’s post!

The Blog

In about two weeks, Books & Babbles will be turning two years old! It’s super crazy to think that two years ago I sat down and started working on this project that I’m still, to this day, so incredibly passionate about. It hasn’t always been easy and I’ve been struggling a bit again lately, but I’m so happy to have this little space on the internet to babble about books and have a creative outlet! With this blogiversary also comes the decisionmaking: do I keep this domain, or do I change it? Over the past couple of months, I feel as if “Books & Babbles” doesn’t fit anymore. I do still like the name, but… I want something that fits BETTER? It’s nearly impossible to come up with something good and fun, and whenever I do, it’s usually taken. Maybe I’ll stick to this one for another year? Obviously, I can always change it, but I feel like this would be a great time to do so.

Also, WOW-WEE! March and April (so far) were craaaaaazy in terms of blogging! I signed up for the Ace of Shades blog tour and I never thought I’d be chosen but I WAS! Then a few days later an email about the Winter Glass blog tour landed in my inbox. Believe me when tell you I literally squealed. I’ve been so, so incredibly lucky this past month! I actually got to do my first ever author Q&A with Lexa Hillyer and it was so much fun!

A Personal Update

The past month has been CRAZY. Like… I don’t even know where to start? Obviously, I’m still working at my job. But I also went to the college introduction thing and it all went downhill from there. I got an email saying I shouldn’t do the course I wanted to do (just as I had finished my introduction assignment, talk about great timing! – Not.), had an appointment that was equally upsetting but really great in the end! I went to different college’s Open Night for their Communications course and oh my goodness, I’ve signed up! The college itself (like the building and such) is so cool and I just saw myself walking through the halls and working on assignments in the study halls, it was crazy. I’m actually so excited I can’t wait for it to be September. I’ve been going to Rotterdam a lot these past few weeks and it makes me so happy to be back there. It hurts my wallet big time, but it’s been wonderful.

Holy moly, I am OBSESSED with The Greatest Showman movie/musical. I don’t even know why I decided to listen to This Is Me, but suddenly I was watching the movie two times in two days and I’ve had the soundtrack on repeat for like a week now. I’ve pre-ordered the Blu-Ray and I even made my mom listen to the songs. It has been such a long time since a movie or music or whatever has made me THIS happy. Like, I want to fall asleep listening to these songs instead of an audiobook because I just love it so much. Actually… thinking about it, I think I found This Is Me on a Spotify Daily Mix! I’m really not sure, but that would make the most sense, I guess. Before my obsession started, I’ve been listening to a lot of my Daily Mixes because I’ve actually discovered they’re really good?! I’ve found so many fun new songs and it’s just great. Also, I obviously watched the new season of Jessica Jones on Netflix (LOVED IT!) and A Series of Unfortunate Events was amazing as well and asdfghjkl THAT CLIFFHANGER?!

March/April Book Haul

Last month, I hauled a ridiculous amount of books, and I’m so glad to say I didn’t go as crazy this month! I got a digital proof of Winter Glass by Lexa Hillyer because I was part of the blog tour and I won/got Restore Me by Tahereh Mafi for a Dutch (online) book club I’m taking part in. The only book I bought was To Kill A Kingdom by Alexandra Christo because it was quite cheap at my favourite bookshop and I loved the ARC! Finally, I preordered Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody and even though it will be released by the time this goes up, I haven’t gotten it yet because it always takes a while before Amazon ships it and delivery takes a few days. Also, (I nearly forgot this one!) I got Everless by Sara Holland on Kindle because it was on sale, yay!

Currently Reading

Weekend getaways to Germany are super weird because I’m able to read A LOT but we also go often go out on a whim, so I have no way to “predict” what I’m reading! By now, I do hope to have finished PS. I Still Love You by Jenny Han and that I’ll have started Ruin & Rising by Leigh Bargudo. But who knows?

What have you been up to this month? Do you like The Greatest Showman? Have you seen the new season of A Series of Unfortunate Events? Let’s chat in the comments!
