A while ago I was given an ARC of The Violet Blake Series by the author, and I love it so much! I have to be honest, if this showed up on Goodreads as a recommendation, I probably wouldn’t have picked it up. But then I got it, and I read it, and now I love it. The Violet Blake series is an unexpected treasure, one you should definitely read!
The Goodreads tag might be a little old, but I still like it very much! I did it once on my old blog and when I was moving reviews and bookish posts to Books & Babbles, I decided to update it. I love Goodreads and I love to talk about it so I answered the questions! Wanna know what I’m up to on Goodreads? Make yourself comfortable and keep reading! Read more
Top Ten Tuesday is a really cool weekly meme created by The Broke And The Bookish! This is my third time making a top ten and I’m loving it! Top Ten Tuesday is one of my favourite things to blog about. This week’s topic: Books I’ve picked up on a whim. Read about my definition of “a whim” and, of course, the books down below! Read more
Book Babble: my words for what others might call a discussion. In my first Behind The Books post, I talked about how I “stopped” reading Dutch books and switched to English. Being a Dutch book blogger in the Netherlands who only reads English can be quite complicated, but it’s all worth it! I do occasionally pick up a Dutch book, but it’s quite rare! Today I want to talk about why I don’t read Dutch. Read more
Some people listen to music while they read, others don’t. I’m one of those people who always listens to music. 8Tracks was always a really great way to get lost in a book while also discovering new music, but they made some big changes and their iOS app became useless in the Netherlands. I was reading Clockwork Angel at the time and I needed some music to listen to, so I decided to make my own playlist! Read more
Last week I did my first Top Ten Tuesday! It’s a weekly meme created by The Broke and The Bookish! This week’s topic: websites that aren’t about books. What a challenge! Honestly, I spend most of my time on the internet, but I don’t actually do much! I did manage to find 10 websites though, and they aren’t about books! Check them out below. Read more
City of Lost Souls is part five of the Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. I was a little intimidated by the length of it, especially since my rather negative thoughts about City of Fallen Angels, but I really enjoyed the book! It’s one of the best books in the Mortal Instruments. I hope you enjoy my spoiler free review!
Since Books & Babbles is still new, you probably don’t know anything about me. And that should really change! I want my blog to be more than just books and book babble, but personal as well. No, I’m not going to tell you my deepest, darkest secrets (sorry!) But I want to show more of myself than just the books I read. Behind the Books will be a monthly thing, but I want to start with an introduction of myself. Read more
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish! I didn’t actually know about it until about an hour ago, hehe! I was going through my Twitter timeline and found a post and I was sold; This seems like so much fun to do! So from now on I’ll be doing the Top Ten Tuesday! This week’s topic is childhood characters we’d like to revisit. I’ve chosen to make the list with YA characters.
The Mirror King by Jodi Meadows is a fantastic book. The cover is absolutely stunning, but the inside is even more beautiful. It’s definitely one of my all time favourites and I’m proud to have it on my bookshelf! The conclusion to the The Orphan Queen duology is everything a finale should be and even more. It’s a must read for everyone, no matter what books you usually like! Read more
