Fairyloot November ’17 Unboxing | Ladies That Slay

I’m a huge fan of Fairyloot. Even though I can’t usually afford their boxes, I do keep up with their announcements! When, back in October, the “Ladies That Slay” box was announced for November I just had to get it. Luckily, it was my birthday in November! My mom got it for me as both an early and belated present, since we had to order a month before and it was delivered almost a month after, but I didn’t mind! I’m so excited about the November box, so let’s unbox this thing! Spoiler warning: contents of the November Fairyloot “Ladies That Slay” box coming up!

Literally everything in this box is an exclusive Fairyloot item and you can’t get it anywhere else!

Fire Is Catching Patch, Fight Darkness Sticker & Enamel Pin

I love building up the excitement, muahahah so let’s start with the smallest items first. I honestly don’t think I’ll be using any of these things (except for the bookmark), but I’m so excited about them! First of all, there’s the Fire Is Catching patch, inspired by The Hunger Games: Mockingjay. The quote says: “Fire is catching! And if we burn, you burn with us!” I really love it, although I wouldn’t know what to put it on. Then there’s a sticker which says: “So long as you fight the darkness, you stand in light.” It’s a quote from An Ember In The Ashes by Sabaa Tahir. Finally, there’s an enamel pin from This Mortal Coil, which was a bonus item. Of course, there’s also the Fairyloot bookmark!

Blue’s Brew Tea & Brightest Witch Candle

These are the most exciting goodies in this box! I was so sad when I burned up my Caraval candle from the January box, but now I have another lovely candle by Flick The Wick to burn while reading or watching Harry Potter, since it’s an Hermoine-inspired candle. It smells divine! It’s a 2oz soy candle with a blend of vanilla, lily, musk, raspberry and citrus. I really can’t wait to turn this candle and it’s already looking pretty on my small Harry Potter shelf.

Blue’s Brew is a tea by Bookish Teas and is a fruit tea inspired by Blue Sargent from The Raven Cycle. I LOVED this series and Blue’s character, so I loved this tea right away! Unfortunately, I’m not really a fruit tea kind of person, and I didn’t like the taste very much. Hopefully it’ll be better with heaps of honey! I absolutely love how red it looks in a cup and there’s EDIBLE GLITTER! I seriously want to add it into everything I eat and drink from now on. The ingredients of this tea are: black and red currants, blackberries, apple, hibiscus and rosehip peels.

Slay Book Sleeve

I’d been wanting to get myself a book sleeve for ages as I (used to) travel a lot and always worry about damaging my books! Fortunately, this month’s box included an exclusive Fairyloot Slay Book Sleeve! It features swords and books (and flowers!) to represent ladies that slay and I love it! It’s not at all a design I would’ve chosen myself (at least not the white – NEVER the white) but I really love it! The design’s really cute and the galaxy-ish colours are beautiful! It’s a bit big for the UK paperbacks I usually carry around, but that’s okay. As long as my books are protected! The inside lining is also waterproof, which is absolutely perfect! I still remember the day I ruined a perfectly beautiful wallet when my container with berries leaked in my bag… oops.

Advance Reader Copy

I think the thing that pulled me across the line of “Should I get it?!” was the advance reader copy/ARC that was going to be in the Ladies That Slay box. I had no clue what to expect, since a “May release” still doesn’t say much. I also tried my very best to avoid finding out what book would be included, and then I found out! I tried to forget, but it always stayed on the edge of my mind… Anyway, it’s an ARC of Furyborn by Claire Legrand! It’s about two girls who live centuries apart and they both hold power to save or doom their world. It sounds so epic! I literally just don’t whether to start reading this one first, or the other book from this box… Ahhh, help!

The Book of The Month

The book of the month is The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli! The exclusive cover has silver foiling instead of gold and I honestly love it so much more than the original cover! I had a feeling this book would be included, but I wasn’t sure. I’m glad it was, though. It’s about a girl who kills dragons and there’s a line on the back that says “I’m more weapon than girl” and it’s just so exciting! Of course it also included a signed bookplate and a letter from the author, plus some art from the book, Fairyscoop with an interview with Kristen and the buddy reading card!

Fairyloot’s Ladies That Slay Unboxed

This is honestly one of the most exciting birthday present I’ve ever gotten! I’m so incredibly happy with all the items and, of course, the books! It’s my first ever physical ARC and I’m actually surprised by how big it is! The Last Namsara is absolutely stunning, and I cannot wait to read both of these books in December.
